Burntface is a movement... A movement which speaks to those we feel are largely unspoken to. Burntface is not a voice in the darkness; it is what happens when the darkness itself starts to speak. Burntface is a process that begins with the realization of our collective struggle and finds its power in an inconspicuous wink to the millions of people who comprehend that we humans have far more similarities than differences.
Burntface consists of approximately two-dozen musicians, singers, rappers, web designers, filmmakers, activists, schoolteachers, painters, and photographers, yet our passive sympathizers are estimated in the thousands worldwide. Burntface is known internationally as an Abesha(Ethiopian/Eritrean) Hip Hop group, notably for our original underground classic recording .. We can now be better described as a Multimedia Pan African Collective. Hip Hop music is just one of many things we create. We are comprised of members across the globe that chooses to use their unique arts/skills as tools for spreading social awareness.

What's up with the up-side down Africa?
Is actually not upside-down. We call it "Southside-up". We are constantly motivated to push the limits of our paradigms and challenge previously accepted ideas. In 3rd grade geometry, we learned that a sphere has no top or bottom. We also learned that infinity has no beginning or end. Earth is merely a sphere in infinite space. What we choose to be the top and the bottom is arbitrary. The Europeans who drew the maps we use, to no fault of there own, saw themselves on top of the world and everyone else was sideways or upside down. We merely humbly offer an alternative view that places Africa at the center. Not to mention if you look at Africa Southside up it kind of looks like a face, and it makes for a kick ass logo.
