"While I respect the Judeo-Christian ethic, as well as the eastern philosophies and, of course, the teachings of Mohammed, I find that organized religion has corrupted those beliefs to justify countless atrocities throughout history. Were I to attend church, I'd be a hypocrite."
-Stephen Hyde, That 70's Show
Wow seriously thats all i can possibly say. Who would have known that these articulate notions would have come from a played out sitcom? What boogles me even more is that despite my religious roots and background i find truth in his words. From Al Quida to Hitler, the evidence is right in front of us and im taken aback that i actually admitted it. I can't help but to analyze religion under a stronger lens as a result of this. And although it seems uncanny, i still value my religion, it is the manifestation of the inhumane characters of the world that have corrupted religion in general, twisted the concept of their religion to conform to their ignorant ideology. What scares me the most is how prominent religion was to the few ignorant individuals that messed it up for the rest of us. It's mind altering to even try to comprehend how they can justify ill acts with religion which is essentialy pure. It's no wonder that there's atheists and agnostics in exsistence. I classify myself as religious but at the same time i don't want others to see me as the image of an chauvinistic religious nut forcing my beliefs onto others. I know i will never get to that point. To be in the presence of a linage of archdeacons is reminiscent of monks in the hilltops of cambodia; unfortunately more so accepted.
All this from a show.
